Between 50 – 60% of the valuable substances (acetic acid and alcohol) in the exhaust air can be recovered when the condenser is operating at optimum conditions (cooling water temperature ≤ 4°C). The recovered condensate is directly returned to the connected ACETATOR/fermenter.

EXHAUST AIR SCRUBBER TOPCLEAN

This system is characterized by a novel arrangement of a total of two separate washing columns, one above the other. The lower one is operated with the circulation medium in the collection tank. Only fresh process water is used in the upper washing column.

This arrangement results in a considerably improved efficiency compared to conventional single-column scrubbers. In the standard version, the collected washing water is irradiated with UV light in the circulation system, thus inhibiting / preventing the growth of unwanted microorganisms.

This treatment enables the environmentally friendly use of the wash water as process water for your SSHS fermentation process. A continuous monitoring system informs about the current pressure conditions in the system.

The advantages for you:

  • The achieved “wash-out efficiency” (without additional exhaust air condensers!) is over 90%.
  • The treated water is softened because it contains acetic acid.
  • It also contains a proportion of ethanol.
  • The outlet temperature of the washing water from the scrubber is approx. 28-26°C, thus the impact time in the SSHS process is reduced without any further procedures (e.g. plate heat exchangers for the process water).
  • The system can be CIP cleaned
  • It consistently complies with the currently applicable requirements for use in the food industry (declaration of conformity will be issued)
  • This applies in particular to the special plastic fillers used.
